Artist Statement"MATCH POINT" is an exploration of stillness and transition. This project juxtaposes the quiet solitude of sporting locations — places typically alive with movement and competition — with the contemplative stillness of portraits featuring friends who have shared my time at Stanford.
The chosen locations, and similar spaces as subjects reflect not just absence, but suspended potential. These are places charged with the latent energy of events past and those yet to unfold.
The portraits, meanwhile, serve as silent dialogues. Each face tells a story of connection and departure, reflecting a shared moment on the brink of significant change. These images do not seek to direct the viewer’s thoughts, but rather to provide a space where thoughts can wander and possibilities can breed.
